The Breadbasket’s objective is to have a loving and caring environment, which alleviates the emergency food insecurities for everyone in our community.
Our program/mission strives to reduce hunger by creating pathways for consistent food access through engagement, collaboration, and leadership. According to Feeding America and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, over 22,000 people in Cabarrus County are impacted by hunger and food insecurity: that’s 1 in 8 people in our area.
Operation Breadbasket has been working to address this hunger problem for nearly 30 year. It is our shared responsibility to help our neighbors build healthy, secure lives, and strengthen the community we call home. By taking hunger off the table, we enable families to focus on other priorities, like health, education, and security. It can also lead to improved health outcomes for individuals residing in food-insecure households, and consequently lower health care costs. By providing much needed food and resources, we’ll enable them to face their challenges with confidence. Today (and in the long-term), providing nutritious food is an investment in health and hope for our neighbors and our community. In addition to providing food to those who face hunger, we work to raise awareness about the issue, and advocate with other community agencies to find solutions to this problem.
